Rights & sources

Evidence should be traceable.
Media should be used responsibly.

This prototype establishes the policy framework before it publishes copyrighted recordings or community-contributed material.

01

Recordings and images

The project will not host copyrighted recordings or images without permission or another valid legal basis. Authorised archive links, platform embeds, public-domain material, and clearly licensed media are preferred.

  • Record the rights status of every media item.
  • Identify the rights holder where known.
  • Do not treat online availability as permission to reproduce.
  • Provide transcripts or descriptions where media cannot be embedded.
02

Sources and citation

Every research claim should be connected to a source record. Citations distinguish recordings, publications, catalogues, archival objects, interviews, and community knowledge.

  • Use stable archive or catalogue references where possible.
  • Preserve original titles and scripts.
  • Record access dates for changeable web sources.
  • Explain uncertainty and conflicting metadata.
03

Contributors and community knowledge

Submitted information is reviewed, contextualised, and credited according to consent. Sensitive personal details are not published merely because they were submitted.

  • Ask permission before publishing names or personal testimony.
  • Allow anonymous or limited attribution where appropriate.
  • Do not upload third-party media without rights.
  • Document editorial changes to contributed records.
04

Corrections and takedown

The public project will provide a contact route for factual corrections, contextual challenges, rights claims, and takedown requests. Requests will be documented and reviewed promptly.
